Paris with kids is not the Paris of postcards, and that's the good news. Forget the myth that the city is stuffy or grown-up. This is a city with the best playgrounds in any European capital (Jardin du Luxembourg, Tuileries, Buttes-Chaumont), pain au chocolat within a two-minute walk of anywhere, and a métro so easy that a nine-year-old can navigate it. Stay in the 3rd, 4th, or 6th — walkable, dense with neighborhood life, and close to everything a family wants to see. Do the Eiffel Tower at sunset from Trocadéro, save the Louvre for a targeted hit (Mona Lisa, Egyptian wing, done), and give the Musée d'Orsay a longer visit — it's smaller, lovelier and much more child-legible. Book a boat on the Seine, budget one puppet show at Luxembourg, and make time for the ice-cream lines at Berthillon on Île Saint-Louis. Two rules: eat lunch early (12:30 or you'll be hungry), and never underestimate a Paris park.
